As I walked down the street one spring afternoon, I noticed a skeleton propped up in a third floor window. He just stood there, practically rattling at me, in all his calcium glory. I couldn’t not take a photo of it. That was when I noticed a woman get out of her car and carry groceries into said house. Before she disappeared inside I yelled out to her "I love your skeleton!" She smiled, thanked me, and closed the door.
I thought for a while about how interesting it is to see little hints of the strange hidden within everyday suburban life. Everything can seem so normal and safe, even downright bland, but if you look hard enough you can find truly mystical things. That mysticism is what I wanted to carry through my work; to show the little oddities and spots of mystery in everyday suburban life.
I only realized later how strange a thing that is for a stranger to shout at you from across the road.
